Please dress comfortably and appropriate for the current weather. Check weather.com if you are unsure. Our van does have A/C and heating to keep you comfortable during the tour. We recommend you wear close-toed shoes on our tours, as you never know where in the brewery (or winery) we might be adventuring! We will be walking and standing quite a bit during the tours.

If you are on one of the walking tours please dress for the ever-changing Michigan weather.  Bring umbrella/raincoat, hat, gloves and even sunscreen along, if needed.

No, according to Michigan’s law we can not accommodate this.

Sorry, there is no drink in the van.

Yes, we’ll have a cooler on board.

Discovering Michigan combines great venues, scrumptious food, amazing drinks and your personal tour leader. No matter if you are after a one hour tasting at your work, a happy hour tour or a 5 course beer/wine pairing dinner to entertain clients or executives. We can create an event tailored specifically for you.

Hopefully you will become fun, friendly and a joy to be around. There is also a chance you will become a great dancer and more attractive. And don’t worry we will get you home!

However, each venue does have the right, as per Responsible Service of Alcohol laws, to stop serving you. You can also be asked to leave a venue.

We here at Discovering Michigan also reserve the right to ask you to stop drinking, or to take whatever action we deem reasonable to ensure the tour is safe and enjoyable for all its participants.

In short though, we have NEVER had a problem with drunken fools on our tour because our guests are awesome. Be awesome!

The simple answer is we cater for all types of people and we have had many people who “don’t drink/like beer” on our tours who have had a great day. We do however recommend that you try all the beers (with an open mind), you may well be surprised!

No. Please note that our company policy also prohibits the use of “electric cigarettes” or “e-cigarettes” on-board our vans.

If your samples are included we will take care of the server’s tips too.

Tips for your driver or guide are not included. If you had some fun, learned something, or felt the driving was safe – show them some love! Go ahead and tip them.

Payments, Cancellations and Bookings for Individual Tours

You can book online (only credit card), by calling us or drop in at our captivating office in Downtown Grand Rapids (money, check, wire transfer, credit card, debit card).

Cancellations must be made up to 5 days prior to your scheduled tour.*

After 5 days you will be refunded 50% of your payment.*

If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled tour there is no refund.
Private tour cancellations must be arranged in one-to-one basis.
*Minus 10% of processing and administrative fee

Usually not, unless under special arrangement with us. We ask that everyone book in a tour and date to lock in your spot and ensure you don’t miss out.

If we cancel a tour we will offer you either:

  • A full refund including any booking and credit card fees. This doesn’t apply to gift card purchases (see below).
  • A new date that suits you.
  • If you booked with a gift card, we will reissue your card so you can book in another date.

Discovering Michigan also reserves the right to cancel a tour if less than the required number of people have booked 48 hours prior to your tour.

Reservation

Yes, you need reservation. Reservations are required for guaranteed spots on all tours. Reservations help us determine the number of guides we need to ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable, and they allow us to notify you of changes to the tour due to weather or anything that could disturb the tours.
