Grand Rapids City Tours Will Support Growing Tourism
Another sign of growing tourism as city history tours offered daily for first time
GRAND RAPIDS, MI, June 19, 2017 – For those of us who live here, it’s no surprise that Grand Rapids often tops the list of best places to explore. Grand Rapids has been recognized worldwide as a super cool city and top tourist destination, including by Expedia and The New York Times. We know there are many reasons to be here!
That’s why Discovering Michigan is proud to announce the launch of our daily walking tours around Grand Rapids. The tours focus on our community’s rich history. It provides visitors with a wonderful historical perspective and helps them learn about the many great people and events that transformed our city into what it is today. People who have lived in West Michigan for years will very likely learn something new as well!
7.5 million people visit the city every year and this will give them a new way to experience Grand Rapids, while also soaking in its beauty and energy. The new daily walking tours are in addition to the beer, wine and fishing tours Discovering Michigan already offers.
“The millions of people coming into Grand Rapids often know little about what made us who we are. A city tour is a fun way to learn about the history and unique stories here from a guide who loves talking about it. As a hotel, this is a great resource for our guests to learn more about the city and encourage them to return,” said Carrie Kolehouse, Senior Marketing Manager at AHC+Hospitality, which owns hotels Amway Grand Plaza, JW Marriott and Courtyard Marriott.
We invite you to learn more about this exciting new experience. We are currently arranging interviews with members of the media. If you would like to go on a city tour or schedule an interview please call Candice Fleszar-Smith at 616.930.4188. You may also email email@example.com.
Here’s a little more about what makes Discovering Michigan tours extra special:
*Tours led by Experience Specialists, who are really enthusiastic about the topic they’re sharing, including inside knowledge from their own experience. We also encourage continued education in the field including CTA certification, Cicerone Training, etc… AND, we require updated First Aid and CPR training, just in case it’s needed.
*Partner-like relationship with local business to work together in creating the best experience possible for Grand Rapids visitors (to encourage them come back to GR again)!
*For driving tours, we go door to door, picking you up where it’s convenient for you… then bringing you back (local hotels LOVE this one for their guests). We also make sure guests have snacks and water to help keep them comfortable and safe.
*Continuous evaluation and auditing through feedback from our partners, employees (including taking each other’s tours) and guests. This includes constant innovation to help ensure Grand Rapids visitors find their favorite things to do, and always walking away with a more fun and surprising experience than they expected.
